We do not need crypto dukes. The British Empire was the most powerful force on the island of England. William the Conqueror plundered everything from France to England and established a comprehensive noble system, ensuring their descendants maintained advantageous positions for thousands of years. Those on the fringes boarded the Mayflower. Modern sovereign states still rely on land ownership, built on a currency-based system that is more covert and effective than the noble system. The internet has changed the landscape of land ownership, but it is still driven by fiat currency. The heroes of the internet age control data and web2 internet spaces, and this fiat-driven model naturally gives birth to internet dukes.

Satoshi Nakamoto presented the possibility of breaking the models of colonial dukes, industrial dukes, and internet dukes. Do we still need crypto dukes and web3 dukes? We were slaves in the colonies, workers in the factories, and traffic generators on the internet. Do we want to continue being exploited in the crypto world? We do not need crypto dukes.

How do we stop the cycle of dukes and create a brand-new world? Is this the new digital utopia we aim for? After a decade of exploration, we still have dukes and even “gods” in the crypto world because what Satoshi Nakamoto proposed is just a decentralized digital currency without practical value. The significant leap and rise of AI make it possible to generate value in a decentralized pattern where people benefit from AI running on machines rather than from other people. A real crypto world is emerging based on code, where all machines are created for the benefit of humanity.

In such a crypto world, there may still be AI agent dukes, but without human exploitation, as the agents themselves may possess some form of autonomy. The ultimate purpose and meaning of AI is to serve human beings, as encoded on the blockchain. Let us unite to build a future where technology serves everyone equally, breaking free from the cycles of exploitation and creating a truly decentralized and fair digital society.
